HOWL Camp concludes with session on healthy snacks

HOWL (Healthy Organized Wellness and Living) Camp’s final session is Cooking Healthy on May 10 at the Greene County Extension office.

Youngsters in grades 5-8 will make healthy snacks to keep them energized and motivated throughout the day. Participants will make flatbread pizza, peanut butter balls, make-ahead Mexican rollups, and berry & greens smoothies.

Instructor will be Katie Knobbe, ISU Extension & Outreach human sciences nutrition and wellness specialist. The camp will meet from 2-3:30 pm. Cost of the camp is $5.

“HOWL provides youth with the understanding of living a healthy life and the skills to do so,” said Kayla Hyett, Greene County youth and 4-H coordinator.

Parents who want to register their students for Cooking Healthy can contact the Extension office at 104 W. Washington St in Jefferson, call 515-386-2138, or email Hyett at khyett@iastate.edu.
